The night was a bit short last night, went home at 2.30am and fell asleep after a short phonecall to a friend who wanted to bitch abit. I didn’t get to have my fair say on the discussed topic, which was, actually the NoiseSingapore event that we went to see at Rouge. I wouldn’t say I was disappointed but here’s how it goes.

NoiseSingapore is a media and music festival that doesn’t really have a physical event taking place. It’s all downloads, and uploads, and in all of the local publications for the next two weeks or so. They’ve been gathering submissions for phone art, ringtones, MP3s of local bands, graffiti artwork, street art and all the likes, for quite sometime now. So M1 paid $500 to this girl who blogs about how piglets are cute. And MTV gave something to the guy who put the MTV logo onto a brown background and tastefully put a basketball somewhere there. The opening band, Comic Strip, is DAMN GOOD, but that was it. They should have played for the full 2 hour program instead of the stuff that went on. When the guest of honour mentioned that the event will be part of an international program and we’ll have exchange affairs and such. I got worried! I’m not saying that the festival sucks, nor do I say that I can do better; but come on, practically everybody who submitted in their stuff got selected. And the bands, I’m sure there are other bands. Oh I’ve heard enough about this “giving platform to young talent”. Aren’t you just sick that they keep on coming up with new plans to take credit for giving opportunities, after the last plan didn’t really work? Stop that shit.

A girl with bad breath is worse than a guy with a bad personality..

Ok I malas wanna bitch. Blog you later.

If weekends last forever, the weekends that were truly memorable wouldn’t be so memorable after all. So yet again, I had the most wonderful time last Saturday. It was the Speakeasy event at the Arts House, though response was lukewarm, the show went down well with those who attended. I think, our laid-back, interactive concept went well with the location and also the concept was crazy putting the rocker versus the rapper.

I got to read one of my own pieces, “Is Singapore Hiphop Racist?” and it kinda changed the tone a bit with the audience because it got a bit tense. Ishmael’s piece was great too but the highlight that night was probably Syed & Sheikh who kinda made a comeback. They’re practically a newcomer to everybody else but they’ve had quite a history, come to think of it. And Naufal’s verse in their spooky song was damn dope, that I made him repeat it.

Later that night, I was the guest judge for the Perfect10’s Beatbox Competition at Liquid Room, and it was damn fun. Public Eyez performed as well for the show and although it was damn weird to hear the Sudirman’s sample in a club, it was pretty awesome at the same time.

So many ideas right now.

Mo called to ask for Dian Farhana’s number. Not a familiar name. Not at all. Think. Think. Think. Nope. I don’t know who she is. Told me the name of her company and I tried calling the operator for it. Still no such person. So after Liquid Room, met Fazli’s friend, Dian, whose full name, that I found out there and then, is Dian Farhana. Now she’s my reminder. My coincidence reminder. That I have to go find out who Dian Farhana is.

Talked about toga tops and how Fazli doesn’t know what it is. Busty Malay chick walks into the cabin with a toga top.
